buildings take a lot of resources and would be part of the aesthetic of a town, having a mine building only take the resources on the chunk its on but thats very very restrictive and not really analogous to real life where there are supply chains and that one facility can handle an entire area. perhaps higher tier buildings are able to extract resources of chunks in a wider area?
