Please read this all because this affects you .Since some days ago new players don't get the "Join a town" head for sending an alert to all mayors and recruiters for inviting them. This is, in my opinion, a mistake.

Im the mayor of Holy Capital, currently the most active town in the server, and this system of recruitment has helped me to design a residential structure in my town based on the preferences/interests of new players using that head, which has proven to be very succesful as 8 out of 10 new residents become active in my town as they feel useful and actively being part of a community. I suppose the reason why this head was removed was due to prevent spam invitings or something like that but this is a big mistake.

Now the only way to invite a new player (if the new player lasted more than 10 minutes playing) is to see if they are asking for a town on chat, but that rarely happens because invite spammers check all the time for townless people for inviting them and forget they exist right after that, I know a few examples and their towns aren't getting more active residents, but I wont be naming them here because this suggestion is not meant to create controversy. So this change has not stopped invite spammers, but it also made it harder for new players to start enjoying the experience.

Today a friend of mine joined the server for the first time and if it weren't for the fact that I was guiding him in the first minutes he would have left the server and never came back. At the spawn he didnt find nothing "interesting" to click at, the main NPC there only gave him a link he didnt find attractive to use and behind there he found the teleport NPCs. He clicked on "Africa" and he was sent to the middle of the ocean (what it seemed to be the scraps of a ship). I don't know if more new players faced this situation, but if they did, they most likely abandoned the server.

To sum it all up: We need the "Join a town" heads back urgently, they are not the reason of invite spammers, and we need to check if the teleport NPCs are working fine.

I will look into how we can improve the LFT system. I hear you, but the old system had a lot of flaws that funnelled people into inactive towns. These need to be addressed first.

I've implemented an improved version of the system which greatly favours high retention towns. Let's see if it yields an improvement.

Ricola what is a suggestion that you would give to towns to keep their player base more active? i have struggled alot to keep them alone i keep giving them free stuff , public mines and sf , i try to teach them movecraft but most of them leave and never log back on

Gaming, I also struggled with that same issue before and I realized that that was exactly the issue. They dont need free stuff as one of their first contacts in the town, what they need is knowledge for basic actions that would led them to obtain those items from other town residents (increasing engagement among new residents feeling that there is activity in your town and from stablised residents that feel their work is being useful).

An important matter to take on count here is that every new player requires A LOT of attention on the first days, you basically need to work near them because they will be calling you every time they find something new to learn.

Finally I would say that its also important to "limit" how much information they get in the first steps, even if they feel like they wanna know more at first contact. This is due to 2 things I've seen happening: first, if they leave feeling "they had left something half way done to do" they will join back the next day to continue doing it, instead of feeling they got all done after leaving the first day. Second, because they can overwhelm easily with complex/hard mechanics and its better to show them little aspects of those every day they join.

To sum it all: let your residents do the work for you and dont show everything the server has to offer in the first day of a new player. I hope you find these tips useful, have a good day! ^-^
