We all know about the ban wars. It is not fun. I get that it is the easiest way to get rid of your opps for a while, but what fun is that man? I would rather be occupied than starting a ban war with my opps.
Don't even dare say this is a biased cope suggestion. This has happened to both sides. Has been going on for years.
Ban waring is not fun. Players search for the last minute detail that can be flagged illegal to report their opponents. And (I am not accusing the staff team, but everyone makes mistakes) sometimes, staff members don't view the reports thoroughly or decide too fast (we are humans, noone is accused here) and ban innocent players, who either wait out their unfair ban, or wait days if not weeks until staff review their appeal. I know that appeals are not high priority, they have never been, cause why would you pay attention to rule breakers. I get it.
So my suggestion is:
When reports are made, the name of the reported player is already in the ticket, but...
The reporter should add their discord name, and staff add the reported player to the ticket. (There can be ways found, that if the reporter wants to remain anonymous, he should. I think there is a discord bot for that) So before anyone gets banned, it is a small court. First the accusing player states their case, then the defendant states his anti-proof if he has. Then both players have a chance to veto. (All this can be managed by long channel cooldowns, so it doesn't turn to an argument, rather 2-2 formerly organized messages) After all that, staff intervene. Ask questions on things they don't understand, like a judge. And after all this is done, comes the verdict and the ban (if that's the verdict)
I think this is a more formal way to do bans. Shouldn't add more tickets, even maybe decrease them. These tickets wouldn't be there for weeks arguing. There are rules in a court too (i mentioned my idea of how it would go through). These (if both players and a staff member is active) can be done in a day. Otherwise, maybe 2-3.
- This would cut down false accusations quick
- Reduce player reports
- Reduce false bans
- Reduce appeals to handle
P.S.: This is just my idea. I welcome suggestions or opinions. If staff are interested, my dm's are open (csipok)
