- FRIGATES -
A small, lightly armed and armoured craft with the main purpose of scouting, light escort, and anti-submarine warfare
- Minimum size of 800, maximum size of 3,000
- Maximum terracotta limit of 10% (300 blocks for max-size)
- Maximum glazed-terracotta limit of 5% (150 blocks for max-size)
- Barrel/Chest limit of 0.3% (9 blocks for max-size)
- Dispenser limit of 0.25% (7 blocks for max-size)
- Firepower somewhat similar to that of a corvette
- Normal firepower limit of 40 (access to 4-inch guns)
- Torpedo firepower limit of 12
- AA-gun limit of 2
- Depth charge limit of 2 OR Hedgehog limit of 2 (I will get to that momentarily)
- Movement in between that of a cruiser and a destroyer
- 15.75 b/s max speed
- No acceleration (or very little)
- Rotation cooldown of 5 seconds
- Possible Special Abilities:
- Sonar Ping: highlight a submarine with a glowing effect for all nearby allied ships for 30 seconds (240 second cooldown)
- Long-Distance Scouting: The craftlist ping range for Frigates is twice that of normal crafts
- Slightly farther render distance than other crafts to allow for more effective spotting
- HEDGEHOGS -
A weapon exclusive to the frigate, this anti-submarine weapon launches 8 tiny depth charges. Unlike the Depth Charge, the hedgehog cannot fire directly below the frigate, so a nimble submarine can avoid being damaged by hedgehog charges by slipping directly beneath the attacking frigate.
- Reload time of 90 seconds
- Similar to AA-guns, it can be set to sequential mode to fire the 8 charges one by one rather than all at once, allowing one to spread out the launched projectiles
- Each hedgehog charge deals damage similar to that of a 4-inch shell
- Each hedgehog charge has a damage radius of 25 blocks (as opposed to the Depth Charge's 70 block radius)
- Hedgehog launchers have a minimum range of 40 blocks and a maximum range of 120 blocks, allowing one to aim at a submarine from a considerable distance, however the slow arc of the projectile makes this difficult if not properly spread out
- Hedgehog charges cost about the same as a single depth charge, with each crafting recipe giving 16
- Hedgehog launchers have a wide horizontal firing arc so putting them on turrets is not a necessity
I think the purpose of a frigate would be really neat in CCNet and may go well with some of the future suggestions I plan to make. Obviously, not everything needs to be added, but some new variety in the movecraft theatre would be appreciated.
